Henning Korch, Rosewood trolley, 1968

Rosewood trolley by Henning Korch

The Henning Korch trolley is an icon of Danish design sensibilities. The functionality is clear, acting as a vehicle for drinks, be that alcohol or high tea, as much as a side-table for storage or display. The open frame is simple, yet subtle detailing such as the curvature of the top rail, and the gentle radius on all stretchers and joints make for a tactile and appealing design. The design is elegant and fine, whilst being structurally competent and extremely well made.

The handcrafted manufacture and selected use of materials combine with the design to make the Korch trolley exemplary. C F Christensen were founded in Silkeborg Denmark in the mid 1950s and soon established themselves as leading cabinet-makers. The trolley was available in various woods, but the use of selected rosewood provides a luxurious quality to the furniture.

Henning Korch designed for various Danish companies creating case good and tables with a simple and often classical aesthetic.
